Last month for the first time we analysed which tracks DJs were charting in order to see upcoming trends. Beatport receives thousands of DJ charts a month from some of the world’s most respected DJs, and when you collate all that data, patterns begin to emerge.

For instance we can tell you that the most charted progressive house track of July 2009 was Nic Chagell ‘This Moment’, and that Jay Bliss, Markus Homm and Mihai Popoviciu’s ‘Bis Co’ is moving slowly up the ranks as more and more DJs discover this useful sleeper since it was released in April.

Both the Reboot mix of Sebo K & Metro ‘Saxtrack’ and Mark Knight & Funkagenda ‘Good Times’ jumped straight into the Top 10 most charted tracks of July, which is no great surprise considering each record carries a perfect amount of summer vibes.

There is an overwhelming amount of percussive house in this month’s Top 50 most charted tracks, which suggests that many DJs are using bongos and natural drum rhythms to spruce up their summer sets at the moment.

The surprise curveball in the Top 50 is Ginz and Joker’s r&b/dubstep soundclash ‘Purple City’ - it will be interesting to see if the success of the track spawns similar wacky dubstep spin offs in the future.
