The Sunburst Band’s third installment
The Sunburst Band’s third installment
28 May, 2008 | 12.36PMWhen producer Dave Lee
isn’t remixing hits for the pop elite or scoring Top 10 hits in his own right under a variety of guises, he likes to take time out from the sampler and remix desk to make live music.
Regrouping with his über-talented muso team, they finally deliver the third installment from The Sunburst Band
(after the acclaimed ‘Here Comes The Sunburst Band’ and their sophomore opus ‘Until The End Of Time’).
With members culled from the funkiest ends of Incognito and Jamiroquai, the ensemble’s upcoming album, ‘Moving With The Shakers’, features authenticity from ‘80s boogie legend Leroy Burgess, and acclaimed singers of the calibre of Pete Simpson, Diane Charlemagne and Dawn Tallman.
As with what’s gone before, it’s unashamedly musical, and continues the man named Joey Negro’s obvious homage to the greats of the disco era.
Prior to the album’s arrival, Z Records release a 3-song multi-mix EP including the retro ‘Rough Times’ and the Taka Boom-sung (Chaka Khan’s sister no less) ‘Turn It Out’, paired with the spiritually blessed ‘He Is’.
The resultant is a superlative blend of silky, oak-smoked grooves and lazy breaks that expertly bridge the gap between yesteryear and the present with much finesse.
