17 July, 2010 | 11.03AMThe Shapeshifters
come back after a long winter in the studio with ‘Helter Skelter’ on Defected
. Spins from Pete Tong, Steve Smart, and Aga Heller gave the track the liftoff it needed to strike hard in clubland. Defected commissioned a video and has now officially released it. If you are a Tim Burton fan or just into animation, this is a video to check out!
Simon Marlin and Max Reich, aka The Shapeshifters, rocketed to fame with ‘Lola’s Theme’ in the summer of 2004. In 2008 they signed to Defected
and began their own imprint, Nocturnal Groove Digital
. The label has been a solid outlet for the duo to release tracks with Candi Staton and Frankie Knuckles
as well as tracks by up-and-coming talent, Jason Chance’s ‘Head Shake’ or Gramophonedzie’s ‘Brazilian’.
Their latest musical monster, ‘Helter Skelter’, is about a chaotic relationship, likened to a wild ride on a roller coaster. The animation comes from the workshop of Rob Wicksteed. This is one of the most creative videos we’ve seen in a long time. Step aboard ‘Helter Skelter’ and prepare yourself for a wild ride!
