The Prodigy: new album and singles emerge

The Prodigy basically invented drum & bass and breaks via their ‘Experience’ album, and are undoubtedly some of the best producers dance music has ever had.

Their fifth album is finally nearing completion, and we’ve rounded up some sketchy, underground footage of what it sounds like.

For what seemed like an eternity, The Prodigy’s old website bore the text: “We have started writing and recording new material for the 5th Prodigy album.”

Considering it took Liam Howlett seven years to release ‘Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned’ after the record-shattering ‘Fat of the Land’ LP, this statement was ambiguous at best.

Unfortunately, by the time the fourth album had come around, Prodigy had lost their grip on the public’s imagination, and the prospect of freaky underground-style dance music topping the singles charts was long gone.

Who knows where this latest venture will lead?

It features all the original crew (unlike ‘Music for the Jilted Generation’ and ‘Always Outnumbered’) like Keith and Maxim, and is due to drop around July.

The lead song on this thread is called ‘Warriors Dance’, and the two below it are ‘Unstoppable’ and ‘Beat 55’ respectively.

The Prodigy headlined this year’s Gatecrasher festival, where they demoed their new material.

Interestingly, the band played a set to a sold-out crowd in Plug nightclub on May 16th, only to discover that two of their costumes had been stolen as they sauntered off stage.

South Yorkshire police were called in at approximately 3:10 on Saturday morning, although reports that they questioned “Everybody in the Place” are unconfirmed.

Hopes, as always, are high for the fifth Prodigy album, so check out their other new tunes now:
