The Oil Painter is an experimental project in the field of contemporary electronic music.
The album was born in 2007 during the passion week. Its source of inspiration could be found
primarily in the various paintings from the Baroque Era that represent the last days of Jesus Christ.
This album does not have a purely religious background and it does not carry a religious
message of any kind. Its concept is related to the ideas which are implemented in Baroque paintings
and the artists’ attitude to demonstrate the aesthetics of the tragic and obscure. Exactly these ideas
are coherently related to the development of the story, sometimes told with an implied intensity.
The mentioned intensity of the sounds has a pre-destined fall. Regardless of the tempo of
the tracks, this concept builds the foundation for the atmosphere of the album throughout the whole
work.
The Oil Painter carries the mystery, which represents the spirit of such paintings. It is the
mystery not only in the faces, not only in the shades, but rather in between the boundaries between
light and darkness. Thus the transcendency, as well as its metaphysical laws, are also a major topic
in the album. This is how The Oil Painter is constructed by the transcendency from light into
darkness – the viewer’s own sinking into the mystical and unknown. This transcendency makes us
desire something, but before it takes us on the journey it first brings us expectations about which we
know nothing – neither if they are justified, nor if they stay, and if yes for how long. Where will
they take us? When will they come to an end? When could all of this come to an end? Is the path of
transcendency as obvious as the path towards Golgotha?
