FLYamSAM [Ghostly International]

If FLYamSAM is sounding rudely familiar then look no further than Los Angeles Brainfeeder cohorts Flying Lotus [a] and Samiyam [a].

It’s as if these guys weren’t cool enough already, they had to had to join forces and form a supergroup.

This is a classic combination of the jazzy, off-beat percussiveness that brought FlyLo (that’s what all the hipsters are calling him nowadays) international success last year with his album on Warp Records [l] with Samiyam’s smooth grooves and wonky FX.

The track is pure instrumental hip-hop, with a rolling 2-step beat pattern and deep note progression that could potentially continue to loop on for infinity.

From LA all the way to Glasgow this is the sound of modern, forward thinking producers who are simply ripping up the rulebook. You can label it wonky, hip hop, dubstep - or whatever you desire - but at the end of the day, it’s just good music.

And, if the rumours are true that an album from these two is imminent, then 2009 looks set to be another monumental year for Brainfeeder.
