The London EP
Jon Rundell [HardAsFunk]
31 October, 2007 | 9.52AM- Section: Music Reviews
Former Intec Records label manager Jon Rundell continues his impressive development as a producer in his own right with this four track EP on Paul Janes’ HardAsFunk label that sits somewhere on the boundary of techno and hard dance.
First up, we’re hit by the infectious and in yer face ‘Wobble’ that lays down a fierce percussive groove and seesaw synth line that’s broken up by plenty of neat fills and drops in the arrangement.
Elsewhere, ‘Rock’ serves up thoroughbred techno rhythms, vintage rave stabs and nagging piano stabs, while ‘Hard Conga’ throws down a heavy, bass pounding techno groove.
Label main man Paul Janes makes a guest appearance on the final track on this EP by turning in a remix of Jon Rundell’s ‘Nemesis’ that will reel in support from the dancefloor with its infectious funky bassline and massively reverbed synth lines sending energy levels soaring through the roof.
Four slices of top tech action.
