Video: The Juan Maclean ‘One Day’

Yay DFA! Finally a new album from The Juan Maclean [a] is coming; the anticipated follow up to 2005’s debut album ‘Less Than Human’ which introduced us not just to a new production team on the scene, but to a gifted remixer in Juan (aka John) Maclean, who has since adapted his own versions of tunes for acts like Matthew Dear, Munk, Air and Daft Punk.

But as much as I’ve enjoyed the remix work, a full length album was always what I yearned for. Here’s the video for ‘One Day’, the first single to be released from his new album ‘The Future Will Come’.

I’m happy to report that the LP is a 10 track voyage through electro-bliss and indie-disco-happiness that exceeds expectations.

The Juan Maclean has always been (in my eyes) disco + electro + indie + funk + lovable lyrics, and with Nancy Whang (of LCD Soundsystem) back on vocal duty, just like in the first album, her playful lyrics and charming voice are the perfect compliment to the smooth electro sounds that have become synonymous with DFA Records [l]

By far the most joyful track on the record is the oh-so-aptly named ‘Happy House’, which was a club hit in 2008, but his new single ‘One Day’ is just as funky.

The track also has remixes by Mark Romboy, The Emperor Machine, Surkin, and relative newcomer Lazaro Casanova [a]
