Justin Martin‘s relationship with Buzzin’ Fly has brought us a string of high quality and internationally acclaimed releases, starting with ‘The Sad Piano’ back in 2003, and most recently the double header that was the ‘Chaos Restored 2’ compilation and latest single ‘My Angelic Demons’.

It’s from this latest single that comes this reworking of the 2006 classic ‘The Fugitive’ is made available, following a remix contest held by the label.

Scottish producer Andy Graham’s body of work will be more than familiar to fans of French imprint Missive, where his output as Droido, and more recently Sei A is presented, with the singles ‘Smile For Me’ and his recent artist album ‘Editing Shadows’ being of particular note.

Inspired by the bass driven mood of the original, Sei A strips things back and utilises a somewhat understated groove as the template of his mix, slotting the bouncy synth lead over the top and running it through some deep mid-range frequencies.

The overall mix is a far more subtle reimagining of the track, but still maintains the floor controlling magic that made the original one of Buzzin’ Fly’s most successful releases; something which holds true even to this day.
