The Elektrons’ new album ‘Red Light, Don’t Stop’

Justin & Luke Unabomber are the hosts of Manchester’s infamous Electric Chair night, and in recent months as the Elektrons [a], they’ve become one of the hottest new bands around.

It all started with ‘Dirty Basement’ – a stonkingly good Prince-ly tune, and continued with the equally essential ‘Get Up’ that drafted in Soup from Jurassic 5 to lay down the rhymes and Pete Simpson’s sweet soulful vocals.

The result was an irresistible jump up anthem, as elements of ‘70s funk-met-old skool hip-hop and retro electro.

Now Wall Of Sound issues the album ‘Red Light, Don’t Stop,’ which should help propel them to the next echelon, perhaps eventually seeing it crowned as the best British dance record of the year.

Possible future singles include the summery ‘Classic Cliché,’ showcasing the lighter more upbeat sound of the Elektrons, which Justin calls “a modern day Minnie Ripperton” record. Another contender is the up-tempo ‘Stop Hold It.’

Pete Simpson features on a handful of tracks including the Northern Soul-inspired ‘Hurry On Down’ and the harder edged ‘Maximal.’ It’s a blinder!
