The dome project is “not Fabric 2”

Back in November we revealed that the owners behind top London club Fabric were planning to open a huge venue in the former Millennium Dome, now called The 02.

At the time, Fabric declined to comment on the situation, but after Time Out followed up with a similar story in January, Fabric got in touch with Beatportal to clarify a few facts.

“We would like to clarify that the new project is not Fabric 2 and as a venue, has no connection to Fabric other than a few shared staff and directors,” said Fabric’s Danna Hawley.

“As it’s a completely separate project altogether, any reference to the venue as Fabric 2 is incorrect.”

Beatportal never referred to the new venue as ‘Fabric 2’ as we were told that asides from the same directors and staff, the club in Greenwich would be a totally separate project, where superstar DJs and big names ruled the roost.

Fabric has always been about the underground, whereas the new venue in Greenwich sounds like it’ll be much more focused on the mainstream.
