Rocco [Freerange Records]

is best known as one quarter of Rodamaal, the production team behind the hit ‘Insomnia’ that dominated the dancefloor.
Flying solo, he has released on Shack, City Deep and Buzzin Fly, with last year’s ‘Roots 4 Acid’ causing a renewed wave of interest in his skills.
From his base in Lyon, Rocco’s spacey house grooves have been finding a place in many DJ’s record boxes.
With supporters including Nic Fanciulli and Jimpster, it’s no surprise to see his new release on Freerange Records
.
‘Stormy’ is seven minutes of pure lush sounds melting into one another to create a trippy yet strangely pumping track.
The key to Rocco’s productions is the immense musical parts creating one groove and yet never over-powering each other.
As the track builds the tight snappy percussions, rave flavored synths and swirling effects blend into an acid flavored whirlpool.
Polish duo Three Channels step up to create a jackin’, blip-fried remix that screams future house music — Beatport recommends this mix for fans of Derrick Carter!
‘The Revolution’ moves the percussion pace up a mini gear but keeps to a similar formula to ‘Stormy’.
The shimmering strings and delayed crashes fall into a groovy 808 bassline.
An awesome package and as much a lesson in the art of music as much as wicked tracks!
