The Chemical Brothers win over Space Ibiza

Last night saw the triumphant return of the Chemical Brothers [a] to Ibiza, 14 years after they were kicked off the decks midway through their set at Space.

Despite a 70 Euro door charge (no free drink included) Space was jam packed as the Chems dropped twisted breakbeat, electro hip hop and driving electronic house.

Starting off slowly, the Chemical Brothers quickly increased the BPMs and intensity of the music over their two and half hour set and by the time they dropped ‘Hey Boy, Hey Girl’ the mainroom of Space was sweated out.

The Chems’ Tom did most of the work behind the decks, spinning vinyl and CDs whilst Ed tweaked mixer knobs and faders.

Some people have said in the past that the Chemical Brothers are a great live act but poor DJs.

Last night they proved that they can rock the decks with the best of them and for the 19th birthday celebration of Space, there could be no better a headliner.
