The beauty of Ibiza’s Sa Trinxa bar

Ibiza is all about the ying and yang of life and it is that balance that makes the island so attractive.

A hot sweaty night in a nightclub is perfectly matched by a lazy day lounging on a beach, and Ibiza has plenty of beautiful secluded beaches to choose from.

In fact, there are over 50 beaches in Ibiza and for adventurous travelers willing to make a trek to the nearby island of Formentera (where the Bounty TV adverts were once filmed) paradise awaits.

Not all the beaches are a mission to get to though - Las Salinas beach is only a 10 minute cab ride from Playa D’en Bossa / Ibiza Town and it has the bonus of being home to Sa Trinxa bar, which must be one of the best beach bars in the world.

Pure bliss: beachside massage

Sa Trinxa bar is located at one end of Las Salinas beach, which is known for its nudity (we spotted a few naked old men and women today) and its turquoise blue waters.

It’s a long walk down the beach to get to Sa Trinxa, but entirely worth it as not many families or package holiday tourists bother to walk that far meaning only people in the know come to Sa Trinxa.

Scattered outside the bar are plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas which will cost you 6 Euros each for a day’s hire.

From about noon, trendy Europeans wearing skimpy bikinis and speedos trickle down Las Salinas towards Sa Trinxa and from about 2pm chill out music plays out through the speakers.

Sun worshipers on Las Salinas beach

As the sun reaches its apex, the cool, shallow waters will soothe away any burns but getting to deep water can sometimes be a slow process as the sea bed is rather rocky and quite slippery.

By about 3pm Sa Trinxa will be heaving with clubbers ordering strawberry Daiquiris and Mohitos, plus if your peckish lunch here is tasty if not a little pricey.

As for DJs, Sa Trinxa bar is famous for its music - the famous Jon Sa Trinxa plays almost every day at Sa Trinxa bar, and he has done so for over 15 years.

Quite often the DJs will be accompanied by a live saxophonist who will jive along over the top of deep house and funk, which gets the beach people dancing in no time.

The chill out music grooves along all day, as the DJs mix it up by throwing in surprising pop hits and nostalgic tracks from the 1980s and beyond.

Today we heard Marc et Claude’s ‘I Need Your Loving (like the sunshine)’ that got the whole beach singing along.

Hippy threads on sale at Sa Trinxa

There’s also a couple of small stalls selling hippy clothes, sunglasses and jewelry at Sa Trinxa should you feel the need to embrace the inner bohemian in you.

Ultimately, for a day of chill out grooves and sun-kissed relaxation Sa Trinxa bar on Las Salinas beach is a good bet.
