Out of the hundred of charts we receive from DJs in every corner of the club scene, we pore through the results to identify the 50 tracks that turned up most frequently. (Well, to be perfectly honest, a computer does the poring. We just sit back, plop our feet on our desk, and watch cat videos on YouTube while the machines do the work.) Whether you end up agreeing with the results or not, they’re always a fascinating cross section of tastes.
The big takeaways this month? Kenny Larkin
and Radio Slave
take the top slot with “I Don’t Need a Cure for This,” while Boys Noize’s “Yeah” is close behind. Tech house and deep house dominate the top 10, with a particularly strong showing from members of the new generation of underground players: Lee Curtiss, Maya Jane Coles, Art Department, and dirtybird’s Ardalan and Justin Martin. Coles in particular is one to watch: she’s at the top of Resident Advisor’s own October Top 50 chart, and her What They Say EP is one of those records that all manner of DJ seems to be able to get behind.
