Technology guru joins Beatportal
2 October, 2007 | 7.05AMAspiring producers and technology geeks will be pleased to learn that Beatportal will soon have more technology content, production guides and information on the latest sound tools thanks to Francis Preve, who joins our team as Technology Editor.
Since 2004, Preve has been one of the principal sound designers for Ableton, creating many of the synth and effect presets that ship with Live and its various a la carte softsynths.
Francis has also worked as a sound designer for Korg, and is a contributing editor for Keyboard Magazine.
He’s also the author of three music production books, including the ever-so-humbly titled Remixer’s Bible.
“Beatport has been my mainstay for getting the latest club tracks for several years now, so this is a great fit,” Francis said about him joining the Beatportal posse.
“It’s no secret that I love sharing my experience with budding producers and I’m really looking forward to helping Beatportal users learn about the latest tools for production and synthesis, both from my perspective and that of emerging artists.”
Francis will begin his Beatportal contributions tomorrow by launching an in-depth blog series called ‘Guide To Synthesis’ which will reveal everything you needed to know about synthesizers.
His guide should prove to be an essential resource for anyone serious about making electronic music.
Francis will also be interviewing top DJs and producers and grilling them about their production techniques, in order to share studio tricks and tips.
