Tear You Down

Tear You Down

Brookes Brothers [Breakbeat Kaos]

Brookes Brothers [a] are one the freshest crews to hit the drum & bass circuit recently.

They’ve recently been dominating the playlists of the scene’s major DJs, and have even managed to infiltrate daytime radio in the UK. Is a new era of drum & bass upon us?

Having released on Hospital Records [l] and Viper Recordings [l] in 2008, the duo (who really are brothers) recently remixed one of the summer’s biggest hits, J Majik [a] and Wickaman [a] ‘Crazy World’, which led to a remix of a cover of the Chemical Brothers [a] ‘Star Guitar’ no less, now signed to Data Records, the Ministry of Sound imprint.

With all the fuss surrounding them it was never going to be long before somebody offered them an album deal; and that offer came from DJ Fresh [a] who runs Breakbeat Kaos [l].

‘Tear You Down’, the Brookes Brothers’ third offering on BBK, is a delicious, vocal-led disco number that has an uptempo feel-good vibe about it.

The track has been heavily featured on BBC Radio 1 in the UK, with everyone from Pete Tong [a] through to Annie Mac having spun it.

In a similar vein to last year’s liquid anthem ‘If We Ever’ by High Contrast [a], this is an epic tune that will transcend people’s music preferences.

It might even spark a new interest in drum & bass from the wider world.
