Tauron Nowa Muzyka readies 6th edition in Katowice, Poland

If you’re looking for a getaway in late August, you may want to set your sights on Katowice, in southern Poland, for the Tauron Nowa Muzyka (Tauron New Music) festival. Located just 500 kilometers from Berlin, Katowice is a hop, skip and an EasyJet from many points in western Europe, and the lineup promises a staggering array of adventurous electronic music.

Between festival openers Lamb and a closing performance from rising star Jamie Woon, you’ll find many flavors of bass music, techno and electronica, including Amon Tobin [a], Modeselektor [a], Gold Panda, Seefeel, Machinedrum, Ford & Lopatin, Emika, Walls, DELS, Little Dragon, Apparat [a] Band (live) and Spoek Mathambo. Mary Anne Hobbs presents a showcase including Darkstar [a], Lorn, Pearson Sound, Roska, Instra:mental, Boxcutter, Oris Jay and Ras G, while the Red Bull Music Academy stage offers a welcome dose of 4/4 action with Superpitcher [a], Matias Aguayo [a] and Jacek Sienkiewicz [a]. Mount Kimbie, meanwhile, play the official afterparty.

Tauron takes place in a repurposed industrial area—between two mine shafts, in fact—in Katowice’s city center; in addition to musical performances, attendees can take advantage of city tours, photography workshops, and music workshops covering production and mastering. Additional activities and resources are planned for kids and their parents.

Check out the Tauron Nowa Muzyka website for details, ticketing and travel information.
