Tattoo Detectives split citing ‘creative differences’

US techno and electro house duo Tattoo Detectives [a] aka Gabriel Ben and Lance Blaise announced yesterday that their three-year partnership was over, citing creative differences.

The profile of the Carl Cox [a] and Paul Van Dyk supported pair began to rise in 2006 with the release of ‘She Bleeps ‘N Bloops’, and subsequent releases on Playloop Records [l] and Blaise’s own Teggno Records [l] suggested the duo were becoming one of the strongest new double acts in the States.

The multi-genre output of the Tattoo Detectives certainly hinted there were opposing forces at work in the studio however.

In the past two years they’ve released minimal, tech house, electro house and slamming techno and Gabriel Ben confirmed that there had been growing rift between them in recent days.

He said, “There comes a point in time in every duo that artists head in different directions. The time is now for me to move forwards by allowing myself full attention on developing and growing as an artist and DJ...As I got into 2009 I will be able to have a fresh start.”

Lance Blaise will however continue his solo career under the Tattoo Detectives [a] moniker as he began the project by himself in 2005.
