Take Me Away
Take Me Away
11 August, 2007 | 12.57AMI used to work in Japanese Animation when I lived in texas. My first job was subtitling japanese animation on an old Avid system. Eventually I worked my way into making trailers. I alway saw trailers as mini music videos. Sometimes for fun I’d just make music videos. One thing I always liked was how well the japanese soundtrack mixes with dance music. Take Me Away is an example of that merging of music and action. I mean the rules still apply, you need yummy footage and the song has to good, but anime will always suprise you with little bits that in your mind appear to sync up perfectly. I love editing to the beat of music and aligning those perfect segments that make a video stick and just work. This vid is an example of that. Originally edited in a span of 2hrs playing around with windows media editor about 2 years ago.
I think the song and visual elements like the counting down of numbers, the strange winged gal locked up in a jail sail, and the overall kind of depressing theme of the anime, i mean those other pilots got whacked, fit the audio’s lyrics pretty well too.
