Sven Vath is one of our heroes and after watching this fabulous video from 1987 of Sven performing the pop song ‘Step By Step’ live on Italian national TV we love him even more.

This live perfomance is taken from the TV show Festival Bar ‘87 and shows the boss of Cocoon prancing about on stage, singing and dancing like a proper pop star (in superb 1980s attire).

Sven owned that stage, and even back then you can tell that the trendy techno DJ was destined to be a star.

It’s fascinating to see the musical history of one of electronic music’s biggest DJs and see how an artist can morph into different characters through sheer musical talent.

Who would have thought that this young man prancing about on stage would become one of the biggest icons of techno?
