Suspender ‘Quake’ includes remixes by Freaky Chakra and Phokus

Massive breaks release with amazing remixes on Ritual Sounds [l].

After a long hiatus Ritual Sounds is back with a storming package of west coast breakbeat goodness.

Suspender [a], originally from Argentina but now a LA native and part of the Los Angeles Breakbeat Association (LABA) gives us his finest work to date. Quake is the perfect title for this track as it shakes both stereos and dancefloors alike. Reminiscent of early Crystal Method but with a South American flavor, we are really happy to have Suspender as part of the Ritual Sounds crew.

Remixes come from West Coast wonder Freak Chakra, who gives us 2 different interpretations. His electro remix is stomping old skool electro with acid basslines and twisted effects, bringing us back to the sound that made Freaky Chakra a west coast legend.  His house mix is a straight ahead tech-house journey using many of the same atmospheres but over a 4x4 groove. This is late night drug house at its finest.

Phokus [a] gives us a glitchy breaks masterpiece of funk. This mix uses the original sounds but tweaks them out into the atmosphere, and your brain will follow close behind.  Always pushing the envelope but never too out there to keep grooving, Phokus is really coming into hi own as a producer and remixer.

Suspender Bio:
Born in Rosario, Argentina, Suspender was given the tools to create sound at an early age. Suspender, aka JP Sancho, began studying piano at the age of 4 and shortly thereafter added drums to his studies. Years later, with a foundation for music composition laid and computers more easily accessible, Suspender found new ways to experiment musically. Connecting his Commodore 64 to a keyboard allowed him to explore the unknown digital music realm. While in Argentina Suspender made his mark on the region’s music scene playing drums with the band Keyser Soze. Following a rigorous tour schedule the band was voted Rosario’s Band of the Year in 1998. Suspender’s travels during this time exposed him to a wide range of musical styles including Jazz, Funk, NU Metal and Drum ‘n Bass. Suspender arrived in America in 1999 with the band Superjudas, and took full advantage of his opportunity to travel and meet like-minded musicians. His first major role landed him a spot as drummer for the Indian-psychedelic rock band The Orphics. During his travels he met and played alongside artists such as Blues guitarist Jay Gordon and Funk singer Preston, and shared the stage at many of Los Angeles’ world famous rock clubs including House of Blues, The Roxy, The Knitting Factory and The Key Club. The following year of playing at event throughout North America opened his eyes to the lack of live performances within the electronic music scene. His next project quickly took shape: a live performance combining out-of-this-world bass lines, body moving beats and melodies using sequencers, samplers, mixers, keyboards and effects. It was this spark that has led Suspender to deliver the live performances entertaining audiences today. Suspender has achieved a loyal following throughout California and South America from both audiences and DJs. He has performed live at Coachella, Burning Man and clubs in Argentina. Suspender’s talent and passion put him on the short list of producers set to define breakbeat’s next era. He’s released tracks under is own Black Buddha label, Bijou Beats, and now Ritual Sounds.
Expect great things from Suspender in the not too distant future.
