As many Scandinavians have been doing for decades, the dj collective SunnnyBeach HappySlap MardiGras has left the comfort of the Copenhagen hotdog-stands and soothing schnapps to embrace a sunny Costa del Sol fiesta explosion on their debut Conta / Mamacita EP.
Conta celebrates the punchy cadence of spanish cycling in a firestorm of trumpets, doping and palmas. The perfect soundtrack to pass the porron and crank up the blood-centrifuge to.
Mamacita wakes up the seoritas with a persistent alarm-clock like beepy loop and rewards their attention with a bouncy beat that will have your whole anatomy boppin’ as if you were doing the mexican hat dance on pyote.
To remix the Conta / Mamacita, Sunnybeach Happyslap Mardigras have invited some of Europe’s finest and most current producers on the house-scene.
Momma’s Boy (aka Mikix the Cat) has stripped Conta down to the basics, added more bass to the grove and arranged it into a suspenseful build-up that’s guaranteed to make crowds go spastic.
The Parisian young-gun Bambounou has turned Mamacita into a cocky African freight train, forcing you to either board it and ride along, or get crushed.
Downtown
(who is also known as part of the dj duo Rennaissance Man) has channeled some of the obscure madness of the Helsinkian winter into Mamacita, creating a genius eleaborate twisted rhythm pattern that will hypnotically take control over your body and mind.
Conta / Mamacita is the first release on Demento Mori - a multi disciplinary design studio thereby expanding to become a record label. It is not the Demento Mori label’s ambition to sign or develop artists. The general idea is simply to make some good bouncy club-music accessible to everyone.
