SunControlSpecies heats up

Andrew Davidson, better known to the world as SunControlSpecies could just be Australia’s best kept secret.

The Melbourne-based producer and live act has always generated excitement in progressive and psytrance circles, but with the impending release of his sophomore album on Danish label Iboga Records [l], the rest of the world is about to stand up and take notice too.

With over 50 tracks out on a variety of labels from around the globe, his 2007 full-length debut album Scienza Nuova is now regarded as a classic in the progressive trance scene and has paved the way for an enviable touring schedule around the globe.

From outdoor festivals in Japan, to 30,000 people on a beach in Brazil and back home in Oz through a dusty bush party, SunControlSpecies is regareded as a regular fixture on the global festival circuit and one of the most dynamic live acts in the world.

The new album, titled “ii”, is a bold step in a fresh direction, shaking the confines of genre to create a masterpiece that is progressive in the true sense of the world: “forward thinking or ahead of its time”.

Evidence of fresh approach can be seen in his soon-to-be released track on Australian label Open Records [l], “Sleeve”, which is a techno-progressive crossover that is already generating excitement among some of the world’s biggest DJs.

Released exclusively on Beatport on August 16, it features remixes by techno heavyweights like Erphun [a], Astronivo [a], Sheff and Solips [a], and is already hot in the hands of the likes of Anthony Pappa [a], Dave Seaman [a], Kasey Taylor [a], Tom Hades [a], Bigger Than Jesus [a], Umek [a], Alex Di Stefano [a] and many more.

Coupled with his recent Beatport Psytrance No.2 Second Sunrise with label mates Behind Blue Eyes [a], and the upcoming release on of the first single from ii called Serenaii, featuring a tasty remix by Beatport Award Winners Antix [a], and the future for this talented Melbourne producer is very bright.
