As another season winds down and the nights get cooler, we’re often left wondering where all the time went. Looking back on the blur of summer parties and too many late nights, we ask some of our favorite DJs about the music that provided the soundtrack - the gems used throughout their summer gigs, the most effective dance floors bangers and this year’s summer anthems. First up, Umek.

TDR , ‘Squelch (Olav Basoski Remix)’ [Doorn Records]

This is disco influenced techno at its best. The old school snare roll break reminds me of the good old days, but this hits hard with a fresh approach and lots of energy. Whenever I drop this at Space in Ibiza the crowd goes bananas!

Round Table Knights, Bauchamp, ‘Calypso’ [Made To Play]

This twisted Caribbean track has been out for a while but believe me it’s a bomb! I still can’t see why it didn’t make Beatport’s top 10.

Funk D’Void, ‘Flealife’ [Outpost Recordings]

Amazing Detroit feel on this one. I have been championing it in the beginning of my summer sets.

Victor Calderone, Mike Frade, ‘Terminal B’ [iVav Recordings]

This is by far the best tribal record of the summer. Is it techno? Is it house? Who cares?

Wehbba, ‘Another Light’ [Tronic]

I’ve been a Whebba fan for years and the piano riff rules!

Da Fresh, ‘Right On Time’ [Definitive Recordings]

This track pumps techno with chopped vocals. It does some serious damage when dropped. Everytime I play it, the dancefloor goes maaaaddd!

Kobbe, Balex F, ‘The Power Of Sound’ [Land Of Voodoo]

Here’s a very interesting edit of this great techno tune. It’s so crazy how the main sound goes all over the place. In, out, left, right, yeah!

Xiaha Troden, ‘Mira Negra (D-Nox & Beckers Remix)’ [Sprout]

The vocal on this is irresistible. The moment you hear it, you’re hooked!

Hertz, ‘A Voice Of My Own’ [Underwater]

A come back of a great producer. His unique sound was truly missed, so it’s good to have him back! Watch out for his release on 1605.

Ben Lb, ‘Olympics’ [Definitive]

The title says it all. Of course this is a big stadium track. It does its title justice every time I played it at festivals this summer.
