Summer anthems tested by Tim Xavier
Summer anthems tested by Tim Xavier
13 September, 2010 | 10.17AMBerlin based Tim Xavier is up for our tested summer anthems series. He lets us peek into his latest season’s playlist, reveals what he likes to call his “Oh Shit” track and lets us know why every DJ should have one of their own.
Sierra Sam, Marcus Vector, ‘Gangsta Pimp Style’ [Supplement Facts]
Sierra Sam is a gangsta pimp in the studio. I am just so incredibly impressed this year by Sam’s ongoing professional track making. P.S.This track has ended up in two of my recent podcasts and not by accident!
David K, Varoslav, ‘In Our Own City’ [Supplement Facts]
I can’t deny there have been some real gems coming out on Guy Gerber’s Supplement Facts label. Speaking of Supplemental facts, I wanna know what these boys are sprinkling on their Wheaties in the morning before heading to the studio… Jeez, this is the perfect party track!
Kaiserdisco, ‘Jaana’ [Kling Klong]
I call this an “Oh Shit” track. That means when you start losing the crowd for what ever reason you better have a track like this one ready to blend quickly. Plus the Kaiserdisco boys pull the classic “claps on every beat” off with such grace and precision.
Hans Bouffmyhre, Julien Piacentino, ‘Dont Tell My Wife (Julien Piacentino Remix)’ [Sleaze Records (UK)]
The lads who run Sleaze UK have been hard at work this year! Release after release the quality music keeps coming. This tune may seem simple and mundane, however it kills the floor every time I play it.
Davide Squillace, ‘The Other Side Of Bed’ [Desolat]
2010 is Davide’s year! From a mastering engineer’s standpoint this track is perfectly tuned in every way! That’s all I have to say.
Tim Xavier, ‘Urban Survival’ [Clink]
It’s acceptable to chart yourself at least once in a chart. Ha! This Thai vocal gone Latin always rocks the floor, I love it!
Uto Karem, ‘Butterfly Effect’ [Plus 8 Records]
Every time I play a track from Uto Karem it’s like setting off a small nuclear device. Viva Italia!
Tony Rohr, John Selway, ‘The Last Time’ [CSM]
This track rocks but really it’s all about both tracks as a package. If I play “Dave’s Ghost” and “The Last Time” back to back it’s like a perfect little psychedelic carpet ride.
Mark Henning, ‘Cracker’ [Clink]
What can I say? This track is timeless and so is the man who produced it!
Matthew Herbert, ‘Leipzig’ [Accidental]
If I play “Leipzig” 3 to 4 times on repeat every morning when I’m getting ready to start my day; my day consequently turns out to be a great one! And OMG have you seen the video, no seriously, go you tube it right now, it’s amazing!
