Sub:Stance, Berlin’s massive dubstep night returns
21 September, 2008 | 6.05PMThis summer saw Berlin’s infamous techno club, Berghain, open its doors for the first time on a Friday night for Sub:Stance, Europe’s newest dubstep night.
Officially the largest dubstep night in the world outside of the UK, the night returns for its second time around on October 3rd.
The night will explore the different ranges of global dubstep, from the Digital Mystikz London sound through to the more techno sound, provided by the Berlin-based artists.
Playing the night will be newly proud father Jamie Vex’d. Having recently disbanded from his production partner Roly Porter, Jamie is now venturing out solo under his new moniker, Jamie Vex’d.
Appleblim will be teaming up with Punch Drunk owner Peverelist under the guise of Skull Disco Soundsystem.
Appleblim, having recently put out two Brendan Moeller remixes on his new Applepips imprint, will in no doubt be expressing his characteristic mix of techno-fuelled dubstep.
Also playing will be Sub:Stance resident DJ, Scuba.
Having recently put out his first techno release on Hotflush Recordings, Scuba is also looking forward to releasing his remix compilation of tracks featured on his last album, ‘A Mutual Antipathy’.
The forthcoming compilation will feature remixes from Surgeon, Jamie Vex’d and Martyn, amongst others.
The night will also feature sets from Digital Mystikz’s Loefah, Dutch dubstep hero, 2562, and German techno producer DJ Pete, aka Substance, whose dub-influenced techno has featured on Scion Versions and Chain Reaction.
