Stu Hirst is back with ‘One’
6 March, 2008 | 12.24PM- Section: Music News Topics: House Nation
Stu Hirst’s first outing for the Newcastle-based Forensic label is the rather large ‘One’.
Whereas his previous releases on labels such as Toolroom and Plastic Fantastic were primarily built on chunky, deep piano-driven grooves and slightly more abrasive acidic offerings, taking their inspiration from Detroit’s techno scene, ‘One’ elects to paint soundscapes crafted from dreamy orchestration and near chilled neo-techno melodies.
It’s a riveting combination as an incessant groove underpins a style sounding not unlike a modern day twist on Sueno Latino’s eponymous Italian house classic.
All ‘n all, it’s solidly constructed and leaves you wanting more.
