Steve Lawler’s renaissance continues in 2009

boss Steve Lawler
played Beatportal a cheeky preview of his fresh-out-of-the-studio track ‘Panderio’, and after listening to it, it seems the British DJ and producer will continue this year down the drum-heavy carnival house route that he started in 2008.
Steve Lawler’s recent ‘Kalimba’ release on R & S, plus his ‘Carnival’ track on Tanzbar Musik
showed that Lawler had moved away from the darker sounds that had propagated his sets for the last few years, towards more organic and drum led house music.
We’re not allowed to say much about ‘Panderio’ as there’s still label agreements yet to be signed, but can reveal that it’s a lengthy symphony of South American-style percussion, soulful vocals, trumpets and subtle arrangement flourishes - it’s the return of the old Steve Lawler, but this time the dark drums are partying in the sunshine.
Asides from ‘Panderio’, Lawler is currently remixing Berlin-based soundsystem junkie Radioslave’s new single ‘Koma Koma’, which should further raise his profile within the underground techno sphere.
Considering it’s only January, 2009 could be a big year for Steve Lawler
