Philip Klempner [Baroque]
30 August, 2007 | 3.17PM- Section: Music Reviews
The past few months have seen Baroque unveil a vast array of projects and showcase the material of many new artists.
For a label born back during the peak of the progressive movement at the turn of the millennium, it’s still going strong, now on its 73rd release.
For this, Baroque welcomes another new name to the fold, as Philip Klempner makes his debut for the label with a solid offering featuring the tracks ‘Stark’ and ‘Meinung’.
‘Stark’ kicks things off in a big way, heavy kick drums and ethereal sweeps create a deep, atmospheric mood within the track right from the opening beats.
A subtle bassline creeps through the busy percussive arrangement, creating a smooth, drop style effect which ripples throughout the track, building towards a big break, and sliding into a breakbeat section which carries things to a close in stunning fashion.
‘Meinung’ is a deeper, pumping piece of music, distinctly upbeat from the early opening, with a big lead and effected chord and melody progression only serving to increase the intensity of the track as it slides down into crazy slap bass influenced drop, before picking up where it left off, keeping the dancefloor hooked, captivated and entwined.
