Squelch Remixes

Baron [Baron Inc. Records]

At long last, the amazing ‘Squelch’ remix by Sub Focus [a] — originally by Baron [a] — makes its way onto Beatport.

It’s backed up by a Generation Dub remix, so you have a nicely rounded package here.

On one hand, you have a typical dancefloor affair that fans of the Real Playaz night at Fabric will lap up.

On the other hand, you have the universally appealing Sub Focus rinse out featuring everything you have come to expect and love from the man.

But let’s kick off with the Generation Dub lick first, which boasts hard, iron-cast beats that smash in and out of the soundscape with venom.

These are complemented by a gnarly, low-pitched bassline that mops up the dancefloor good and proper.

And that’s about it, really; there isn’t much depth here, just something to batter the rave with.

The Sub Focus mix is where things really come alive.

A bassline straight from the gutter rolls out underneath signature beats and mad, flanged, rhythmic barbs.

The bridges balance everything well with epic, crime-caper horns and spooky Ghostbusters pads.

Here you have one of the true cult classics of D & B.
