South America Uncovered: Part 11: Summer Music Festivals

South America Uncovered: Part 11: Summer Music Festivals

Summer is almost here, and the big festivals are knocking on South America’s door.

Every region of South America is preparing events, and Creamfields is one of the most important, featuring great names from around the world, including Europe and the USA.

Creamfields is well known in South America, and the DJs who perform for the event have very high expectations.

Various installments of Creamfields happen across the regions within South America.

The event allows visiting DJs to enjoy the unique sensation and energy that makes Latin music unique within each region’s homeland.

Peru is celebrating its first Creamfields, and Brazil, along with hosting Creamfields in two of its cities, is preparing for the music festival known as XXXperience.

Creamfields Argentina is considered by some (including David Guetta) to be the best festival in the world.

And Chile is preparing its own Creamfields with a very unique Earthdance edition.

With no shortage of festivals in South America for the summer season, we’ll give a preview of what we can expect from each event.

Peru: The Next Bet

Peru is preparing its first Creamfields on November 17th, and with the help several artists in Club Hebraica — notably two of the greatest artists of the land, Rodrigo Lozano and Christian Berguer — the festival is ready to start.

The excitement is high because they are expecting an influx of international artists as well, such as John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, James Zabiela, Matthew Dear, Gui Boratto and several others.

This is a very welcomed event in this very prolific land of the sun, exquisite food and of course, great artists.

As Peru is often considered the “new kid on the block” in terms of this type of festival, all of South America is anxiously awaiting the outcome of this great and promising event, which is why we’ll be covering Creamfields Peru with a full review.

Brazil: In the Eye of the Hurricane

Brazil is large, and its parties are larger than in the rest of South America.

It’s appropriate, then, that Brazil has two Creamfields festivals in separate cities.

The first edition takes place at MegaSpace in Belo Horizonte on November 30th, and the second one at the RioCentro events center at Rio de Janeiro on December 1st.

Both parties feature a top line up of artists, including Benny Benassi, Tiga, Cosmic Gate, Infected Mushroom, Gui Boratto, Steve Angelo and Growling Machines.

Brazil is also preparing for a great festival on November 10th in Campo de Polo Dragon, Sao Paulo: the Special Edition XXXperience festival [image, right], where many artists will be featured, including Skazi, Talamasca, Void, Eskimo and the combination of Rica Amaral and DJ Feio.

XXXperience is essential in the context of the much-loved psychedelic trance scene in Brazil.

Argentina: One of the Top

Creamfields Buenos Aires [main image] promises to be another great success in the history of electronic music in Argentina.

The mega party will be held at the Autodromo de Buenos Aires in November 10th with several visiting artists such as The Chemical Brothers, Carl Cox, John Digweed, James Zabiela, Tiefschwarz, Craig Richards, Mark Farina, 16 Bit Lolitas — plus regional favourites like Hernan Cattaneo, Martin Garcia, Romina Cohn and Deep Mariano.

It’s not just David Guetta who’s expressed that this is the best festival in the world — but he’s the one on record with a quote in DJ Mag.

But it’s not just Buenos Aires and Creamfields in Argentina — there is also the On Route Festival [image, right] in Córdoba on November 24th at Villa Deportiva del ACV.

The line-up includes Ricky Ryan, Jason Collins, Nicolas Coronel, DJ Shap, Edu Vasquez, among others, and it translates to a great alternative from the mainstream events.

Chile and the Chilean Way

Chile’s way of life isn’t the same as the other countries in South America, as it is separated from the rest of South America by the Andes mountain range — separating it geographically and in other ways from the mainstream.

Creamfields Chile will take place at the Movicenter in Santiago on November 9th.

There will be three headliners: The Chemical Brothers, Carl Cox and Tiefschwarz — but the festival will also feature a small but consistent line up that promises to keep attendance at its full capacity.

Chile will celebrate the Earthdance festival [image, right] in Picarquin later that month with a diversity of artists and styles, including rock bands and MCs.

Earthdance celebrates its 10th Anniversary and takes place from November 23rd until November 25th.

Featured artists include Ozric Tentacles, Eat Static, Shpongle, Hallucinogen, The Orb and the now famous “Chilean Psy-Team”, in addition to Ovnimoon, Psipsiq Jicuri, Ital and many others.

South America Dances

The outlook is very hot these days in South America.

Artists will be visiting from all four corners of the globe, and everyone is exited about the huge festivals, and the fun that comes with them.

Summer will be a great season for the people of South America to dance and enjoy the energy and happiness.
