SourPuss Residency at CiRCA Nightclub with Jamie Kidd
SourPuss Residency at CiRCA Nightclub with Jamie Kidd
28 May, 2008 | 11.42AMThis week a new monthly techno night called SourPuss has been announced to take place at CiRCA nightclub in Toronto.
You might have heard the buzz about this four-storey club.
It’s the one that entrepreneur Peter Gatien (the man who opened Tunnel and Limelight in New York) is behind.
Needless to say, since the club opened in 2007 to accommodate 3000 party people each night of the weekend, they have worked with various promotions teams who have done an excellent job to get eclectic crowds through the club’s doors.
Both A.D/D. and GEM events have promoted regular club nights, and starting this week a new monthly is gearing up to start.
SourPuss takes place in the Skyy Cinema Lounge, and is presented by the group known as Box of Kittens who usually do amazing loft parties.
On the bill for the monthly night are resident DJs Jamie Kidd
, Fabio Palermo
, Hali and Mike Gibbs.
It’s great that CiRCA has booked this monthly night as it will feature some techno music of a more underground edge.
Among the group of resident DJs, Jamie Kidd has several new exciting releases to speak of.

Producing music with Metalogic since 2006, along with studio partner Frederik Hatsav, the duo released the ‘Boxed and Warped EP’ in April of this year.
‘Boxed and Warped’ is all about a move that Frederik did from one home and one studio to another, and when you listen you can almost feel the movement contained within the music.
Imagine packing boxes, moving trucks, and deadline-driven pressure.
This track is energetic with a tension that’s also suitable for the dancefloor.
This is the second EP and second 12” that Metalogic as a duo has released together.
The first one being the ‘Atom Eater EP out on Addon, in addition to a remix for Coya of a track called ‘Quanto’ out on Raised Music.
Coming up soon for Metalogic
, they have a track called ‘RoadRage’ coming out on the new Boshke Beats compilation called ‘Chronika Chapter III’.
In addition to his work with Frederik Hatsav of Metalogic, Jamie Kidd also produced under his own name for both Thoughtless Music and Monism Music.
‘Suspended Shadows’ (on Thoughtless Times Vol. 2) is a dark and brooding track, with an edginess that makes it raw and gritty.
Kidd’s tracks are serious and hard - just like any true tech fan likes them!

Jamie Kidd has also released a DJ mix he is sharing with interested listeners. It can be downloaded here: ‘techno orchid’.
