Sounds To Sample and Marc Adamo are back with another production tutorial; this time they tackle the Black Eyed Peas’ ”The Time (Dirty Bit)” bassline.

There’s been some kvetching in the comments to prior STS tutorials, questioning why people would want to learn to copy a given lead or bassline. But we’re going to go out on a limb and suggest that the point isn’t to create facsimiles of well-known hits, but rather to deepen your production knowledge by following a series of steps in order to recreate a specific result. (Consider it like practicing dialogue in an introductory Spanish class.)
