Philipe De Boyar [Hammarskjold]

Get ready for a varied double-A side called ‘Soulfreaka’.
The Original Mix by Philipe De Boyar is an epileptic electro house track that builds just as you would expect before spazzing out into a flailing body of sound.
The build up is a bit dull – a bit of filtering pulling everything down that is complemented by a growing, buzzing lead synth.
There is a bit too much going on during the drop, and as such it could have sounded bigger if it was a bit more stripped down.
The beats are heavily compressed too and are not very dynamic.
DJ Touche’s remix is much deadlier.
It’s got a completely different vibe – much more techno orientated.
The atmosphere is moody and meaningful and as such can captivate a dance floor.
It’s very dynamic too – lots of different synthy elements drift or filter in and out of the track.
When they filter down, the beats tick away incessantly like a clock – and you will be looking at your watch with this in the mix because you won’t want it to end.
