Some soulful news
Some soulful news
25 April, 2007 | 9.26AMOn the soulful side of things, a sexy new 12-inch from Joss Stone has been making the rounds, featuring a Yam Who? rework of the hit song ‘Tell Me ‘Bout It’.
Lifted from her third opus Introducing Joss Stone, which while some reviews have been less then favourable, her first collaboration with producer Raphael Saadiq has really grown on me, becoming a permanent fixture on the car stereo.
There is also an equally funky house version from Jay-J that is in circulation to those in the know.
The former San Fran-resident also makes a welcome appearance on the reissue of the Groove Junkies’ MoreHouse single, ‘Music’s Gotcha Jumpin’ 2007’.
The Indeya-sung dancer is a blend of Philly soul with a Vincent Montana disco edge, while a bumpin’ reworking from Danism (Dan from Liquid People) elaborates on the Hamilton Bohannon-styled lyrical and freestyle jazz-house production.
The Groove Junkies
are also currently on tour supporting their wonderfully constructed mix CD ‘Late Night With Groove Junkies’, and the single ‘Get Deep Go Underground’’, both on Swank Recordings.
Meanwhile if you fancy a GJ fix right now they have a new syndicated radio show - MoHo Stereo – launching this month. See www.myspace.com/morehouserecords for more details.
