Solvent and Lowfish celebrate the death of a record label

Toronto, Ontario based electro melody makers Lowfish [a] and Solvent [a] are celebrating the passing of their co-owned record label, Suction Records, with a tour and a release entitled ‘Now We Are Dead.’

Lowfish and Solvent, both of whom have previously released material on Morr Music [l], Ghostly International [l] and Lo Recordings [l], amongst others, having been working in tandem for several years, and also have jointly run Suction Records, whose last release was in 2003.

‘Now We Are Dead’ will become the final release in the Suction Records catalog in a 400 copy limited edition four-song split 12” available for purchase in a limited run of gigs.

But that’s not before both Solvent (born as Jason Amm) and Lowfish (lesser known as Gregory de Rocher) release full albums of their own.

Solvent releases a 2-CD retrospective ‘Demonstration Tape (1997-2007)’ while Lowfish releases the CD/vinyl full-length ‘Burn The Lights Out’ comprised of all new material.

The two are pictured together under their alias Tinfoil Teakettle.

The ‘Now We Are Dead’ tour also features Detroit-based DJ Team Dethlab and will hit six dates between January and February 2008:

Friday, January 18th at Zoo Bizarre (Montreal)
Saturday, January 19th at The Rivoli (Toronto)
Thursday, January 24th at Scrummage University (Detroit)
Friday, January 25th at The Empty Bottle (Chicago) [with Beau Wanzer]
Saturday, January 26th at Stonefly (Milwaukee)
Saturday, February 2nd at Grog Shop (Cleveland) [with Travelogue]
