Slide and Soar EP
Slide and Soar EP
Tom Neville [Love Minus Zero]
29 October, 2007 | 9.35AMTom Neville’s early work, particularly the excellent ‘Just Fuck’ established him as one of London’s finest producers.
In the years since, he’s gone on to remix such artists as Mylo and Moloko to name but two, furthering his recognition within the music scene.
In 2005 he launched his label Love Minus Zero
, which has presented some great singles from King Roc and Israeli newcomer Chaim in the months since.
Branching out further, Tom Neville
now presents a new EP as the first fully fledged digital release for the label.
Slide is the first of two original productions he contributes to the EP, a deep rolling house joint with a distinctly wonky bassline.
The track is reworked by the remixing machine that never sleeps, Deadmau5
, who sticks to a similar left of centre template, whilst adding in his usual electro vibes to the aural palette.
The result is somewhat lacklustre and is probably one of his poorer efforts to date.
Thankfully ‘Soar’ gets things back on track, a deep and moody house track, driven by heavy bass and rising synth lines, whilst the Dave Robertson rework sees the South Coast native adding an abundance of dub and atmosphere to the track.
