Slam Remix comp: runner up Christian Fischer

German producer Christian Fischer entered our Slam Remix Competition and his electro house version has made him a runner-up in the contest. His remix has been officially released by Soma Recordings and is available to download from Beatport [it’s track No.1 in the player below]. Beatportal caught up with Christian in Leipzig to find out more about his mix.

How does it feel coming as a runner-up in Slam’s remix competition?

“Yeah it’s a great feeling. I have got so many records from Slam and from Soma. So it’s a real pleasure for me to be able to remix their track.”

Were you surprised to get so far?

“Yeah absolutely. I sent the remix and than I heard nothing so I didn’t know whether it was any good.

“And then just when I had almost forgotten that I had done the mix Soma got in contact with me to say I was a runner-up and that they were going to release my remix.”

What was the main idea behind your remix?

“I used the main atmospheric sounds from the original and then I gave it more of an electro house feeling.

“The original is more deep so I wanted to create a more pumping version.”

How long have you been producing?

“I did my first record in 1996 with my friend Christian Hessel when I was 16 under the pseudonym CAM2.

“It was all 303 old school acid at that time.”

What program did you use for your remix?

“I used Ableton Live to get the main ideas down and to produce it to a high standard we used Pro-Tools.”

Did it take a long time to do the remix?

“I worked for one day on the production and one day for the sound to bring it to high class standard.”
