Skrillex teams up with The Doors (seriously)
28 October, 2011 | 4.40AMBy now you’ve surely heard about Skrillex teaming up with the surviving members of The Doors. It’s part of the Re:Generation Music Project, a documentary film directed by Amir Bar-Lev (My Kid Could Paint That, The Tillman Story), and sponsored by The Grammys and Hyundai; the film-slash-Rolodexagazna features five contemporary producers—Mark Ronson, DJ Premier, The Crystal Method, Pretty Lights, and Skrillex—teaming up with the likes of Nas, Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Martha Reeves, Lean Rimes, The Berklee Symphony Orchestra, members of The Dap Kings, and others to “re-imagine” rock, jazz, classical, country and R&B.
A modest undertaking, then.
Learn more on the project’s official website, and keep reading to check out Skrillex and the (remaining) Doors’ collab, “Breakin’ a Sweat.” The whole project may sound like a Spinal Tap gag, but we have to admit that the tune kind of kicks.
