Skream: Where You Should Be
Skream: Where You Should Be
23 May, 2011 | 5.35AMSo maybe it’s too early in the game to call him “the godfather of dubstep,” but I’m going to go out on a limb to say that Skream
is exactly that. Last year’s appropriately titled Outside the Box ventured into all sorts of exploratory territory, adding Skream to the list of producers that are proficient in multiple genres.
“Where You Should Be” stars UK singer Sam Frank’s wispy vocals in a twist on alternative pop, scented with a hint of dubstep. This latest video emerges just in time to ring in a new round of remixes for the single, out today, featuring versions from Shy FX
, Seiji
, Jack Beats
, and—rather unexpectedly—Laidback Luke
.
Also, check out Skream venturing even further afield as he turns Cassius’ ”I <3 U So” into a crazy, amen/electro banger and offers up the uncharacteristically disco-flavored “Boat Party” for Ed Banger’s Let the Children Techno.
