Simone Fedi: Bitter Devotion
Simone Fedi: Bitter Devotion
10 October, 2011 | 1.53PMTuscany’s Simone Fedi scores an instant classic with his new single for Belgium’s Eskimo: ”Bitter Devotion” is a melancholic, Balearic pop jam so perfect that you may swear to yourself you’ve known it for years. (Yes, “his"—Simone is a man; the singer is a woman named Lola Rent, except we doubt that’s really her name.)
Ewan Pearson provides no fewer than four different remixes of the tune, proving once again why he’s one of the most talented producers to straddle the line between club music and “pure” pop. Thomas Bullock (Rub n Tug, Map Of Africa, et al) turns up in his Welcome Stranger guise to light up the dancefloor with shimmering synths. No wonder DJs from Justus Koehncke and Prins Thomas to Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren are all over this; check it out here.
