Shopping at Ibiza’s Las Dalias hippy market
4 July, 2008 | 8.06PM- Section: Music News Topics: Ibiza
Last Saturday we visited Ibiza’s famous hippy market Las Dalias and discovered the meaning of personal shopping.
Not personal shopping in the shop-assistant-follows-you-around-and-licks-your-ass type of personal shopping, but shopping that was entirely a personal experience.
From the moment Beatportal walked through the opening of the Las Dalias hippy market the air was thick with the smell of fresh leather, incense and flowers.

Find magical items at Las Dalias
We found row after row of stands selling all manner of accessories, clothes, jewelry and hand-crafted household items.
Some things were expensive (120 euros for a pair of leather boots) and some were very reasonable (12 euros for a bronze necklace and earings), but with so many goods on sale there was plenty of fun to be had hunting for a bargain.

Many hippies were working the stalls, and many of them had produced the goods themselves with their bare hands which made parting with your cash that much easier - knowing it was going straight to the producer somehow felt more comfortable than buying from a shop.
But Las Dalias is much more than your standard market, with the entire site’s ambience geared towards relaxation and the Ibizan experience.

DJ spinning downtempo and chill out music
Whilst the incense of various stands mixed in the air, we found a stall offering massages for “your soul and your body”, a bar squeezing fresh fruit juices (the watermelon juice was superb) and a DJ in the centre of the market spinning warm and intoxicating downtempo rhythms and chill out music.
To top it all off, much of the site was covered by a roof of natural green foliage which created a sense of beauty and drifting sunlight throughout.

Get a massage whilst you shop
At one stand, we found a man playing a flute that he had built from wood whilst some children stared in amazement.
A few hours of our day drifted by blissfully at Las Dalias and it was entirely worth the 20 minute drive to reach it.
