Sexual Sportswear
Sebastien Tellier [Record Makers]
2 March, 2008 | 12.55AM- Section: Music Reviews
As a friend of Daft Punk, former support act of Air and associative name in prestigious underground film scores (like the Daft Punk film ‘Electroma’ or Sofia Coppola’s ‘Lost In Translation’), to call Sebastien Tellier cool would be an understatement.
‘Sexual Sportswear’ (taken from his artist album ‘Sexuality’ and produced by half of Daft Punk, Guy Manuel De Homem-Christo, no less) was inspired by a porno channel that Tellier watched regularly when he was 10.
Rest assured, though, this is no wank material.
Less suited to the remit of porno soundtrack and more suited to that of “soundtrack for people having sex with machines on the moon”, this is totally out there.
Epic audio escapism — stunning
The SebAstian Remix is like a splash of cold water to the face after Tellier’s audio smooze.
It says, “I am done having sex with machines and I want to go to a disco”.
No surprises with the treatment that the Ed Banger protege applies; cut and pasted to within an inch of its life with phat splices of disco, funky guitar and an extreme use of filters.
