Being the younger sibling of Steve Angello must come with its perks. Antoine Josefsson aka AN21 appeared out of nowhere in 2009 with two rather large collaborations with his brother, ‘Flonko’ and ‘Valodja’.

The cuts were two of the year’s biggest singles for the Size Records posse, and ‘Valodja’ in particular became something of an anthem for the Ibiza summer crowd, immediately teeing up the youngster for an international career. Since then, AN21 has quickly embedded himself in the Size family, gaining respect through association.

A production partnership with San Francisco DJ Max Vangeli, resident of the city’s long-running Ruby Skye venue, certainly shows signs of future fruition.

The pair’s brand new progressive cut ‘Gama’ was recently included in Pete Tong’s Essential Countdown, and their mix of Steve Angello’s ‘Monday’ from late last year was a favourite amongst the share-o-sphere.

AN21 & Friends Podcast

Both tracks are included in AN21’s recent debut mix podcast (tracklist below), which includes a guest mix from his older brother. No doubt, it helped him gain some subscribers.

Kicking off with a Prok & Fitch bootleg of Moby’s techno anthem ‘Go!’, the mix sprints through larger-than-life progressive and electro house tracks, such as Submission DJ’s piano house favourite ‘Balearic’, a heavy drum mix of Kenny D & Jaimy ‘Work It’, and Sultan & Ned Shepard’s old skool-styled instrumental remix of Paul Harris and Obernik ‘The Take’.

The mix, as one would expect from a Steve Angello protégé, is out-and-out peak time, and moves smoothly from hands-in-the-air house breakdowns, to digitally trimmed mainstream techno drops.

With a good spread of bootlegs and personal productions, AN21 has clearly learnt a lot, and if he’s able to develop his own sound further still, we may soon see a second Josefsson on the global house horizon.
