After vacating the production limelight for so many years, the trickle of recent material from Danny Howells should actually be considered a torrent.

Choosing his ‘Renaissance: The Mix Collection’ album to showcase a small collection of original production towards the end of last year, Howells now returns with a fresh offering on his brand new Dig Deeper label. 

‘September’ is a typically lavish affair. Melody rich and full of cheer, the track glides across a landscape of lush arpeggiated synthesis before finally bedding down after a solid eight minutes of foreplay.

Future Beat Alliance are enlisted for the remix and convert the breezy original into something more purposeful and ‘floor focused. A fairly simple techno framework is populated by choice cuts of source material across the track’s early stages, before a swift turn of heel introduces a stunningly effective tech bassline and chattering open hats.

So was it worth the wait? Yes, it was.
