‘Secret Sunday Lover EP’, the first release on new electro disco and funk label Love Is War Music is a good un’. With Northern electrofunkroots legend Greg Wilson on board, and label bosses with feet planted firmly in New York and London, this label proves that while major cities have unique music scenes the way of the funk is universal.
1Gnition (previously known for the underground classic ‘Love Is War’ that came out on Kingsize in 2004) comprises of Ali Love and Marcus J Knight and together they are the epitome of disco funk.
Think Kool and The Gang for 2007.
Re- edit master Greg Wilson’s mix is predictably a percussive, cleaner take on the original while the lija Rudman remix is more upbeat, electro disco affair.
DJ Sing & Marcus J Knight is electro punk, dancing along a tightrope somewhere between the influences of Prince and Fischerspooner.
Retro funk for the modern generation, look forward to great things on this special label.
NB: Not to be confused with the Ali Love cover version coming out on Sony/Columbia, which is the audio representation of sick cat .
