Sebastien Thibaud ‘No Matter EP’ review
24 September, 2007 | 7.31AM- Section: Music News
A review of the first EP of Sebastien Thibaud on the new French label Time Has Changed Records.
Sébastien Thibaud (also known under the name of Cebb) started DJing in the mid-eighties for his friends.
In 2000, his career reaches a turning point with the opening of the Barlive After where he becomes the resident DJ.
Ever since the first mornings, the club meets a huge success in Montpellier but also over the frontiers and become the biggest afterhour in France.
For our greater pleasure, Sebastien is focused now on the production work and do a very good first EP, ‘No Matter’, on Time Has Changed Records.
The track ‘Draum’ is a minimal techno one and without any doubt a floor filler with this piano melody floating in our head. My favorite.
‘Duke’ (in honour of a famous movie) is a wonderful track who reminds us of the ambiance of the first Jake Fairley track, like this beautiful cold world on sender records - emotional and danceable.
There is ‘No Matter’ with its low tempo is the perfect track for afterhours, when everybody is in the smog… A precious break with an unexpected synth will make you dance.
A nice try again like the final track called ‘Drumstick’ and a little bit of nostalgia.
It’s my release of the month.
A nice debut for this young label.
To be continued…
