Sebastien Tellier’s world tour for ‘Sexuality’

The previous time you heard from us regarding Sebastien Tellier’s latest album, it was before the release hit big and had been widely heard.

Months later we are reporting back to you, in case you haven’t managed to check it out yet.

‘Sexuality’ is absolutely a must-hear album with tracks ranging from R’n’B influenced tunes, to hip-hop flavoured slow jams, through disco, and even a Beach Boys-inspired single.

The album was the result of having locked himself away into a Parisian recording studio with Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo (one half of Daft Punk) behind the controls.

About his first single on the album called ‘Roche’, Tellier stated:

“In this song, the sun is beating down and I’m having really intense fantasies about girls in bikinis.

If I wanted to seduce them, I’d play this song which is a European or French twist on the sexual enchantment that you’d associate with American R’n’B.”

Not only were people raving about his album that features vocals reminiscent of Justin Timberlake and rhythms similar to simple early techno like Kraftwerk, but his performances in L.A. and those slated in New York and Toronto have been talked about a lot.

He’s on a world tour that should be fantastic.

It’s too bad that with such an amazing album, only one of his two videos resembles the quality of his latest work.

That would be the video for ‘Sexual Sportswear’, posted here:

About this song Sebastien Tellier stated, “This track is the best representation of my relationship with Guy-Man - my moving harmonies mixed with the efficiency and lightness of Daft Punk...”

In sharp contrast to the ‘Sexual Sportswear’ video, we have Tellier’s attempt at cliché in his video for Divine, which is not nearly as good a representation of the work on the entire album.

Here’s that video:

In any case, Sebastien Tellier is an artist whose work is ever-evolving and lacks no conceptual framework.

It’s an album to take a journey with, and envision the beach scenes created by the sensual tracks and provocative lyrics that go with them.
