Andrew Weatherall [Soma Recordings]...

Without resorting to hyperbole, Andrew Weatherall is a 100% true legend within the dance music world.

Even now, as one of the scene’s grandfathers, he has not only managed to stay true to the DIY ethic of the English acid house movement that formed the basis of his musical upbringing, but just as importantly (unlike some of his contemporaries), Weatherall is still in demand as producer and DJ, always staying progressive and relevant, instead of making themes for reality TV shows.

Producing under various guises (Two Lone Swordsman and Sabres of Paradise) has allowed him to release everything from techno to dub.

However, this mix, subtitled “a continuous DJ mix” may confuse some.

Instead of a collection of bleeps, blips and basslines, Andrew Weatherall provides the listener with a collection — all recorded from original vinyl — of rockabilly, desert music, rock n roll and psychedelic pop.

Undoubtedly, this release will not be for everyone, especially those expecting a mix of usual Weatherall techno.

But what it provides is a document and a testament to the true love that Andrew Weatherall has for music.

Coming from a man holding the status that he does, this deserves to be respected and enjoyed as such!
